COLUMBIA, Mo, - This afternoon the Harris-Stowe State University softball team was back in action for the first time this season when they traveled to Columbia, Missouri, to take on the 20
th ranked Columbia (Mo.) College Cougars in an AMC matchup. The Hornets were defeated by a final score of 36-0 to fall to 0-1 on the season.
The Hornets had a tough time getting anything going in this one as they were held to just one hit in the contest. The Cougars scored early and often as they scored 13 runs in the first, nine runs in the second, five runs in the third, and 9 runs in the fourth to solidify the win.
Caitlyn Chandler led the way at the plate as she recorded the only hit in the contest for the Hornets.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the second game of the doubleheader was canceled.
The Hornets will return to the field on Wednesday, March 31
st when they travel to Columbia, Missouri, to take on the Stephens (Mo.) College Stars in an AMC doubleheader. The first game of the doubleheader is set to start at noon with the second to follow. No spectators are allowed at this game.
