ST. LOUIS, Mo. – This afternoon the Harris-Stowe State University softball team was back in action when they played host to the William Woods (Mo.) University Owls for an AMC doubleheader. The Hornets were swept in the doubleheader as they lost the first game by a final score of 17-0 and the second game by a final score of 26-0 to fall to 0-17 on the season and 0-15 in the American Midwest Conference. With the sweep, the Owls improve to 16-20 on the season and 8-8 in the AMC.
Prior to the start of the doubleheader, the team honored their three seniors for their hard work and dedication to the Harris-Stowe State University softball team. The three seniors that were honored were
Kyrah Greer,
Anna Wheeler, and
Caitlyn Chandler.
In the first game of the doubleheader, the Hornets did not record a hit in the contest. The Owls scored three runs in the top of the second, 10 runs in the top of the third, one run in the top of the fourth, and three runs in the top of the fifth to solidify the first game of the doubleheader.
Brandi Bradford (0-16) was the starting pitcher in this one as she allowed 16 hits while striking out three in 5.0 innings in the circle.
The Hornets continued to struggle to put the ball in play in the second game as they were held to just two hits in the contest. The Owls scored six runs in the first, 11 runs in the third, and nine runs in the fourth to solidify the two game sweep.
Brandi Bradford (0-17) was the starting pitcher in this one as she allowed 10 hits in 2.0 innings in the circle.
Zaria Palmer came in to relieve Bradford as she allowed 12 hits in the final 3.0 innings of the game.

Zaria Palmer led the way at the plate as they both recorded hits in the contest.
This marks the end of the 2021 regular season for the softball team. The team has qualified for the AMC Softball Championships and will wait to see who they play after the conclusion of all other conference softball games. Check hornetsathletics.com for schedule updates.
