ST. LOUIS – The Hornets of Harris-Stowe State University recorded their second 7-0 shutout win in a row. The victory over Iowa Wesleyan University was special as Anna Schulte recorded a hat trick. For those unfamiliar with the term, Schulte scored three of the Hornets seven goals.
Schulte scored the first three goals at 6:51, 28:08 and 31:30, with the second being assisted by Madlen Bodewig. In the 34th minute, Bodewig recorded a goal of her own. Heading into halftime the score was 4-0, in favor of the Hornets.
The second half scoring started with a goal by Rachael Manley, who was assisted by Rosa Schellmann. Mara Waltrich scored her first goal as a Hornet during the contest. She was assisted by Emily Roos. The final goal came from Lillian Ruckaberle on a free kick.
HSSU recorded 18 shots with 17 being on target. The Hornets used two goalies during the contest. Ondrea Montgomery played the opening half, recording one save, while Amelie Durupt recorded two.
