ST. LOUIS – It is with heavy hearts that we remember former Athletic Director, Ted Savage. Savage served Harris-Stowe State University as the athletic director for nine years, from 1978 – 1987 after concluding his baseball career and earning a PhD in urban studies from Saint Louis University.
Savage went to work for the St. Louis Cardinals as the Assistant Director of Community Relations, as well as a minor league instructor after leaving Harris-Stowe. He spent 25 years with the Cardinals before retiring in 2012 as the Director of Target Marketing in the Cardinals Care and Community Relations department. A fond memory of the students while Savage served as athletic director was the animated and intense stories he told about his days playing within Major League Baseball.
During this time, we extend our heartfelt prayers to his family, friends, and all that had the privilege of knowing Dr. Ted Savage.
