ST. LOUIS - The Hornets of Harris-Stowe State University opened the 2023 campaign with a 3-0 shutout of the Avila University Eagles.
HSSU scored three goals in the opening 45-minutes to take a decisive lead.

Emily Roos' goal to lift the Hornets up 2-0 shortly after Harris-Stowe went up by one. The third goal came at the feet of

The second half was more intense as the St. Louis temperature steadily climbed. Despite several great looks, neither team was able to score during the second half, leading to the Hornets starting the season 1-0, on a shutout.Â

Harris-Stowe will travel to Dallas, Texas, to face Houston Tillotson University and Paul Quinn University on August 24th and 26th, respectively.Â
