Salomon's Goal Leads Lady Hornets Soccer to 1-0 Win

Box Score SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. - Harris-Stowe State University women's soccer picked up a 1-0 win at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College on Tuesday afternoon. With the win, the Lady Hornets improve to 3-3-1 on the season while the Pomeroys fall to 1-3-1 on the season. 

The Lady Hornets would earn a free kick on their defensive side before senior defender Mara Waltrich (Bad Schwalbach, Germany/Nikolaus-August-Otto-Gesamtschule) laid the free kick in the box before sophomore midfielder Katharina Salomon (Vienna, Austria/HLTW Bergheidengasse) got a foot on the ball and up over the keeper of the Pomeroys to give the Lady Hornets a 1-0 lead in the 32nd minute.

Freshman goalkeeper Lena-Marie Winkler (Dornbirn, Austria/BORG Schoren) would make two saves in the first half. Winkler would also pickup the win to improve to 3-1-1 on the season. Senior goalkeeper Andrea Mohn (Ballwin, Mo./St. Louis Community College) would play the second half and make three saves to keep the score 1-0 and keep the clean sheet for the Lady Hornets.

The Pomeroys would hold a 14-12 advantage in shots and 6-2 in corner kicks. The Lady Hornets would hold an 8-5 advantage in shots on goal. 

The Lady Hornets return to action on Saturday, September 28th at 1 pm against William Woods University to open American Midwest Conference play. Location is to be determined.
