Lady Hornets Soccer Earns 1-1 Draw with William Penn

FENTON, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University women's soccer earned a 1-1 draw on Tuesday afternoon at Fenton Soccer Park against William Penn University. The Lady Hornets go to 1-1-1 on the season while the Statesmen go to 2-1-3 on the season.

The Lady Hornets would fall behind 1-0 just 63 seconds into the match. Senior goalkeeper Andrea Mohn (Ballwin, Mo./St. Louis Community College) would make a diving save in the 30th minute to keep the score at 1-0. The Statesmen would caring the one goal lead into halftime after the Lady Hornets applied a lot of pressure and numerous scoring chances in the final 15 minutes of the half.

The Lady Hornets would earn a free kick from 35 yards out in the 55th minute. On the ensuing restart senior defender Mara Waltrich (Bad Schwalbach, Germany/Nikolaus-August-Otto-Gesamtschule) would send a long pass into the box that ended up on the left foot of senior midfielder Layla Weston (Cambridge, England/Hills Road Sixth Form College) as Weston would bury the tying goal for the Lady Hornets.

The Lady Hornets would hold a 12-6 advantage in shots while holding a 5-2 advantage in shots on goal. The Statesmen would hold a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks.

The Lady Hornets are back in action on Saturday, September 7th at 1 pm against Oakland City University. The location is to be determined.
