COLUMBIA, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University women's soccer falls 1-0 in the American Midwest Conference Tournament Championship on Tuesday night at #1 seed Columbia. The Lady Hornets finish the season 7-7-5 while the Cougars improve to 12-4-2.
Freshman forward
Sherasade Meghezi (Paris, France) would miss wide in the 11th minute as she looked to put the Lady Hornets ahead. Junior forward
Julia Tofane (Montes Claros, MG, Brazil/Central Wyoming CC) had a chance to give the Lady Hornets the lead in the 19th minute as her shot hit the crossbar. Junior goalkeeper
Taylor Kolinski (St. Louis, Mo./St. Louis Community College) would deny the Cougars header in the 25th minute. Kolinski would keep the Cougars off the scoreboard with a save in the 39th minute. The game would remain scoreless at the half.
Kolinski would deny the Cougars with a save in the 52nd minute. The Cougars would be awarded a penalty kick and would score in the 68th minute to go up 1-0. Meghezi would have another chance in the 77th minute as her shot would miss wide.
Meghezi led the way with two shots. Kolinski would make three saves.
The Cougars held a 10-3 advantage in shots, 4-0 in shots on goal and 7-3 in corner kicks.
The Lady Hornets return to action in 2026.
