ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University softball fell 12-0 in game one and 18-2 in game two on Friday afternoon against Hannibal-LaGrange at Stars Park. With the losses, the Lady Hornets fall to 1-39 on the season and 0-22 in American Midwest Conference play while the Trojans improve to 9-27 on the season and 4-14 in AMC play.
In game one, the Trojans scored three runs in the second, five in the third and four in the fifth. Freshman catcher
Brianna Huff (Columbus, Ohio/Private Tree of Life Christian College Preparatory) recorded a hit.
In game two, the Trojans scored three in the first.
Senior infielder
Christal Smith (Jacksonville, Fla./Terry Parker) reached on a bunt single. Senior outfielder
Morgan Nettles (St. Louis, Mo./Clayton) walked. An error would load the bases. Freshman catcher
Jaden Crenshaw (Killeen, Texas/Robert M. Shoemaker) singled to right scoring Smith and Nettles to cut the Trojans lead to 3-2.
The Trojans would score three more in the second, five in the third, six in the fourth and one in the fifth.
Smith would lead the way with three hits while Crenshaw, Huff and senior outfielder
Lyric McGilberry (Orlando, Fla./St. Charles Community College) all record a hit.
Friday's doubleheader was senior day. Five seniors were honored before the games and they include Smith, Nettles, McGilberry, outfielder
Tallulah Nemet-Sargent (Wellington, New Zealand/Queen Margaret College/Mississippi Valley State University) and infielder
Sarah Talbott (Hollywood, Fla./Hunter College CUNY).
The Lady Hornets return to action on Tuesday, April 22nd at 12 and 2 pm at LeMoyne-Owen in Memphis, Tenn.
