Men's and Women's Track and Field Teams Compete at Miner Invitational

ROLLA, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Miner Invitational hosted by Missouri S&T on Friday and Saturday.

 

Freshman sprinter Emmanuel Bonsu finished fifth in the 200-meters in a personal best time of 21.73. Bonsu finished seventh in the 100-meters in a personal best time of 10.76.

 

Junior sprinter Caleb Carter ran a personal best in the 400-meters with a time of 52.12 and a personal best in the 200-meters with a time of 23.52.

 

Freshman sprinter John Griffin recorded a personal best in the 800-meters with a time of 2:06.04 and a personal best time of 24.14 in the 200.

 

Freshman thrower Shyla Reid recorded a personal best throw of 36.46 meters (119-7) in the hammer throw, a personal best throw of 33.37 meters (109-5) in the discus, and a personal best throw of 29.33 meters (96-2) in the javelin. Reid recorded a throw of 9.98 meters (32-9) in the shot put.

 

Freshman sprinter Amyla Meriweather recorded a personal best time of 2:49.05 in the 800-meters. Meriweather also completed the 200-meters in 31.92.

 

Freshman sprinter Sherasade Meghezi (Paris, France) recorded personal bests in the 200-meters in 29.98 and the 100-meters in 13.97. Meghezi recorded a jump of 4.33 meters (14-2.50) in the long jump.

 

Sophomore sprinter Detroit Walker finished eighth in the 110-meter hurdles in a personal best time of 15.63.

 

Sophomore sprinter Umar Lawson (Sumter, S.C./Voorhees University) recorded a personal best time of 12.56 in the 100, a personal best time of 25.06 in the 200 and a personal best jump of 5.78 meters (18-11.75) in the long jump.

 

Junior thrower Sherodd Tate recorded a personal best throw of 46.05 meters (151-1) to finish 10th in the hammer throw, a personal best throw of 40.30 (132-2) in the discus, and a personal best throw of 36.35 meters (119-3) in the javelin. Tate also recorded a throw of 13.47 meters (44-2.50) in the shot put.

 

Freshman thrower Jabbar Granberry recorded a personal best throw in the hammer throw with a mark of 41.40 meters (135-10) and a personal best in the discus with a throw of 40.21 meters (131-11). Granberry also recorded a throw of 13.20 meters (43-3.75) in the shot put.

 

Sophomore sprinter Emma Auer (Kindberg, Austria/HIB Liebenau) recorded a time of 1:08.61 in the 400-meters and a leap of 4.22 meters (13-10.25) in the long jump.

 

Sophomore sprinter David Robinson ran a time of 2:23.34 in the 800-meters.

 

Freshman sprinter Jalen Mcghee recorded a personal best in the 400-meters hurdles with a time of 1:06.36 and a personal best 25.52 in the 200.

 

Freshman sprinter Nyla Richardson-Myles recorded a time of 29.79 in the 200 and a height of 1.32 meters (4-4) in the high jump.

 

Freshman thrower Syain Washington recorded a personal best throw of 15.99 meters (52-5) in the discus.

 

Senior sprinter Benjamin Rumanyika (Buckeye, Ariz./Voorhees University) recorded a personal best time of 1:07.26 in the 400-meter hurdles.

 

Freshman thrower Aaron Beasley recorded a personal best throw of 37.50 meters (123-0) in the javelin. Beasley also recorded a throw of 12.34 meters (40-6) in the shot put.

 

The team of Walker, Bonsu, Lawson and Griffin finished fourth in the 4x100-meter relay in a time of 44.84.

 

Both teams return to action next Friday and Saturday, March 27th and 28th at the WashU Invite hosted by Washington University.
