HORNETS DROP SECOND AMC MATCH

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – This afternoon the Harris-Stowe State University women's soccer team was back in action when they played host to the Columbia (Mo.) College Cougars in an AMC matchup. The Hornets were defeated by the Cougars by a final score of 6-0 to fall to 4-3 on the season and 3-2 in the American Midwest Conference. With the win, Columbia improves to 7-0 on the season and 6-0 in the AMC.

Harris-Stowe came out in the first half and found themselves down early as the Cougars took a 1-0 lead just four minutes into the game. They added a second goal just seven minutes later and then a third with 20 minutes to play in the half to take a 3-0 lead in the match. The Hornets did their best to get back into the game before half but were unable to get anything going as the Cougars took a 3-0 lead into the break.

After a lengthy weather delay, the Hornets came out in the second half and had a chance at goal early in the period but were unable to find the back of the net. The Cougars picked it up over the next few minutes of the game and scored their fourth goal of the match just six minutes into the half. They would add two more goals before the end of the game and closed out the Hornets to solidify the win.

Ondrea Montgomery (FR/Louisville, Ky.) (0-1) was the starting keeper in this one for the Hornets as she recorded a season high nine saves in the contest.

The Hornets will return to the field on Saturday, October 24th when they travel to Conway, Arkansas, to take on the Central Baptist (Ark.) College Mustangs in an AMC matchup. The game is set to kick-off at noon.
