WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. – This evening the Harris-Stowe volleyball team was back in action when they traveled to Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, to take on the Williams Baptist (Ark.) University Eagles in their first conference match of the season. The Hornets were defeated in four sets (18-25, 17-25, 27-26, 24-26) to fall to 0-2 on the season and 0-1 in the AMC.
The Hornets played well in the match as they finished with 42 kills, 40 assists, 36 digs, and seven service aces while recording an attacking percentage of .143. They finished with 11 kills in the first set, seven kills in the second set, nine kills in the third set, and 15 kills in the final set while forcing the Eagles to make many plays on the defensive end.
The Hornets were led by Valorie Walker (JR/Houston, Texas) who finished with a team high 20 assists. In addition to Walker, Mallorie Wooten (FR/East St. Louis, Ill.) finished with 17 assists, Junoria Worthy (JR/Peoria, Ill.) finished with a team high 20 digs, and Dei'Janae Floyd (FR/Tulsa, Okla.) finished with a team high nine kills to round out the top performers for the Hornets.
The volleyball team is back in action tomorrow when they take on Crowley's Ridge (Ark.) College in a nonconference matchup. The game is set to start at 3 p.m. Spectators will not be allowed but live video and live stats will be provided.
