Hornets Fall 4-1 to William Woods

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – This afternoon the Harris-Stowe State University women's soccer team returned to the field when they played host to the William Woods (Mo.) University Owls in an AMC matchup. The Hornets were defeated by the Owls by a final score of 4-1 to fall to 5-4 on the season and 4-3 in the AMC. With the win, the Owls improve to 5-1 on the year and 5-0 in the AMC.

It did not take long for the Owls to get on the board in this one as they were able to score in the first 11 minutes of the game to take an early 1-0 lead. They continued to control the possession as the game progressed and were able to get a second goal with eight minutes left in the half to push their lead to 2-0. William Woods capped off their scoring in the first half just two minutes later as they were able to score with six minutes remaining to push their lead to 3-0 entering halftime.

Harris-Stowe picked it up to start the second half and were able to cut the lead to 3-1 just eight minutes into the frame. Malou Hagedorn had the goal for the Hornets as she was able to blast home a free kick from 15 yards outside the box to cut into the Owls lead. The Hornets did their best to pick up the pressure as the half progressed, but one final goal from the Owls late in the game solidified the win for the Owls.

Ondrea Montgomery was the starting keeper for the Hornets and recorded 10 saves in the game.

The Hornets will return to the field on Tuesday, March 16th when they play host to the Stephens (Mo.) College Stars in an AMC matchup. The game is set to kick-off at 3:30 p.m. on Hornets Field.
