EUREKA, Ill. – The Harris-Stowe State University volleyball team was back in action tonight when they traveled to Eureka, Illinois, to take on the Eureka (Ill.) College Red Devils in a nonconference match. The Hornets were defeated in three straight sets (22-25, 20-25, 22-25) to fall to 1-1 on the season.
The Hornets had a tough time getting anything going offensively tonight as they were held to 20 kills and a 0.024 attacking percentage. They finished with four kills in the first set, nine kills in the second set, and seven kills in the third set. They finished the match with nine service aces, 10 blocks, and 35 digs.

Ariyonna Johnson led the attack for the Hornets as they both finished with a team high four kills. Johnson also added seven digs in the match.
Valorie Walker led the offense in this one as she finished with a team high seven assists in the match.
Mallorie Wooten also helped out with leading the offense as she added five assists to go with seven digs.
Nyah Parker led the way defensively as she finished with a team high nine digs in the match. She also added two service aces.
Keonna Stevens led the block as she finished with two solo blocks and two assisted blocks.
The Hornets will be back in action on Friday, September 3
rd when they travel to Holly Springs, Mississippi, to compete in the Bearcat Invitational hosted by Rust College. The Hornets will play two matches on the day including a 3 p.m. start against Philander Smith (Ark.) College and a 7:00 p.m. start against Rust (Miss.) College.
