Men’s Basketball Splits Arkansas Conference Weekend

BATESVILLE and CONWAY, ARKANSAS – The Harris-Stowe men's basketball team stunned Lyon on Thursday night in Batesville with a 71-68 victory at the buzzer. Xavier Riullano knocked down a clutch three-point basket on a pass from Elmelik Martin, Jr., with six seconds remaining in the contest.

Riullano, played 12-minutes for the Hornets and paced the team with 14-points and two rebounds. Jamar Joseph tallied 12-points, seven rebounds and two steals. Jhaylen Covington-Berry added 11-points, three rebounds and one steal for the Hornets. Martin, Jr., finished with 10-points, three rebounds, two assists and one steal.

On Saturday, Harris-Stowe was outpaced by Central Baptist, 65-48.

Jeremiah Hurst paced the Hornets with 13-points, six rebounds and two steals. Breon Mosby stepped up for HSSU with six-points, four rebounds, one assist and one steal. Jamarr Joseph and Jhaylen Covington-Berry, each added five points. Elmelik Martin, Jr., recorded four assists, two rebounds and one steal.

The men's basketball will return to St. Louis, to face the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy and Missouri Baptist. Despite being in St. Louis, the games will be played on the road on Thursday and Saturday at 7:30 pm and 3:00 pm respectively.
