HANNIBAL, Missouri – The Harris-Stowe men's basketball team traveled to Hannibal, Missouri, to face the Trojans of Hannibal-LaGrange University in their American Midwest Conference opener. In an intense battle of wills, the Trojans narrowly clinched a 58-56 victory.
In the opening 20-minutes, the Hornets and Trojans appeared to be attempting to gain their footing in the contest while containing the offensive attack of the other. HLU entered halftime with a 33-28 lead, due to a strong defense on both ends of the court. In the second half, the Hornets were able to turn it around, outscoring the Trojans, 28-25.
Alex Nunnally paced HSSU with a double-double, tallying 23 points, 13 rebounds and one block. Ken Martin added 11 points, nine rebounds, two steals, one assist and one block. Antwan Campbell recorded six points, two rebounds, two assists and one steal.
The Hornets travel to Pittsburg, Kansas, to on Tuesday, November 22nd to face Pittsburg State University in a 7:00 pm exhibition.
