ST. LOUIS - The Harris-Stowe women's basketball team traveled to Cincinnati, Ohio, to face the Falcons of Simmons College, after falling to them during homecoming 2022. This time around, the Hornets left it all on the court, claiming a 72-51 victory.
Simmons College took the opening period, 19-12 and it would be their only advantage for the rest of the contest. In the second the Hornets held the Falcons to nine points, while scoring 19. Harris-Stowe cruised to a smooth victory after closing the third and fourth 21-10 and 20-13, respectively.
Taia Smith paced the team with a double-double, landing 21-points, 11 rebounds, five steals and two assists. Destiney Amaefula was one short of a double-double, finishing with 16-points, nine-rebounds, two assists and two steals. Autumn Brown scored 15-points, three rebounds, three assists and one steal. Samara Swire tallied 14-points, five rebounds, three assists and one steal. Kya Gordon contributed eight rebounds and six steals.
