MARSHALL, Mo. – The Harris-Stowe baseball team, with their domination over Missouri Valley, stands at 4-0 to start the season. In Game One, the Hornets won 13-1 and Game Two, 12-4.
Game One:
Harris-Stowe started scoring early. The Hornets scored two runs in the first inning. In the second, HSSU exploded with 11 runs. Missouri Valley did not score their lone run until the fourth inning.
Logan Dryden scored on a passed ball to start scoring.
Davie Pound doubled to left field to score
Maurice Lafon. On a single to second base by
Bay To,
Hunter Perdue scored. To scored on a wild pitch.
Alek Sierra doubled to center field to score Dryden prior to scoring on a passed ball.
Pound stepped into the batter's box and pounded a triple into center field, scoring Lafon and
Turner McDonald.
Alex Williams doubled to left field to score Pound. To was walked with loaded bases, earning an RBI as Williams scored. Lafon walked and earned the RBI as To scored.
The Hornets finished the game with 13 runs on 11 hits and one error.
Game Two:
Missouri Valley opened scoring in the third inning with three runs and one in the fourth. Harris-Stowe leaped onto the scoreboard in the fifth, with six runs. Missouri Valley scored their final run in the sixth. In the seventh, the Hornets scored an additional six runs.
Armando Sierra singled to center field earning two RBIs when
Bay To and
Quintaryis Bournes scored.
Maurice Lafon doubled to left field earning three RBIs as
Turner McDonald,
Armando Sierra, and
Logan Dryden each scored.
Davie Pound nailed a double to left field, scoring Lafon.
Austin Palacios tripled to right field earning two RBIs as Louie Castellan and
Jordan Palacios scored.
Bay To advanced to second as
Quintaryis Bournes scored.
Armando Sierra doubled to left field to score To. McDonald reached first on an error by the first baseman, while
Armando Sierra scored. A single by Lafon to center field scored McDonald.
Harris-Stowe completed the game with 12 runs on 13 hits and two errors.
The Hornets will travel to Leavenworth, Kansas, to face the University of Saint Mary (Kansas) on Saturday, February 26
th in a doubleheader at 1:00 pm and 3:30 pm.
