Men’s Soccer Opens Season With 1-0 Victory Over Mighty Oaks

ST. LOUIS – The Harris-Stowe men's soccer team opened the season with a 1-0 shut-out victory over the visiting Oakland City University.

Despite strong opportunities for both teams to score in the first, half, the score remained tied at 0-0 entering the halfway mark.

In the 51st minute, Filip Pavlovic scored the only goal of the contest. With the storm moving into the area, the referees called for a lightning delay at 5:55 pm. After it became apparent the storm would last, the game was called, lifting the Hornets to a 1-0 start on the season.

"We started off a bit slow forcing thing and not connecting passes. The Second half was much more composed and our build up play improved. For our first game of the season I am pleased with how we played and we will only get better," stated Head Coach Scot Vorwold.
