ST. LOUIS – The men's soccer team secured a thrilling 2-1 victory over Avila in Kansas City on Wednesday afternoon.
At 18:28, the Hornet's
Alessio Capitonlino scored the first goal of the contest. Avila responded in the 26th minute with a goal from Brennan Ortega. The rest of the first was scoreless despite some very good shots.
It appeared the game was headed to a draw, however,
Filip Pavlovic's quick feet secured the victory in the 75th minute.
Harris-Stowe landed nine on target shots. Defensively, the Hornets swarmed Avila's offense, only conceding one goal and one other shot on goal.
September 17
th the Hornets will be in Saint Mary of the Woods, Indiana, to face Saint Mary-Of-The-Woods College. Game time is set for 3:00 pm.
