ST. LOUIS – The Hornets women's soccer team traveled to Kansas City to face Avila University in an afternoon contest. It was an intense match-up where neither team was able to edge the other out, leading to a 2-2 finish.
In the opening half, the Hornets scored the only goal when Rachael Manley was able to capitalize on a play by Leslie Ballard and Yasmina Dressen.
Exiting the break, Jasmin Kraus launched a perfect shot for the goal on a pass from Manley.
The game was far from over as Avila continued to battle. In the 74th minute Kirryn Killingsworth scored to cut the Hornets lead in half. In the 79th minute, Morgan Pettlon knotted the contest at two on a pass from Miriam Solorio.
Harris-Stowe landed 12 on target shots. Defensively, the team was a fortress, aside from the two goals, Avila's offensive attack was smothered.
September 17th the Hornets will be in Saint Mary of the Woods, Indiana, to face Saint Mary-Of-The-Woods College. Game time is set for 1:00 pm.
