ST. LOUIS – It was a beautiful contest on Saturday, at least for the Harris-Stowe State University Hornets, as they defeated Saint Mary-Of-The-Woods College 7-0.
SMOW made their first of two shot attempts at 1:09 but goalie Ondrea Montgomery denied it with a brilliant save.
Proving to be quick, less than ten seconds later, Sara Pablos scored with Jasmin Kraus assisting. In the 24th minute, Kraus scored for the Hornets, unassisted. With HSSU firing off shot after shot, SMOW's goalie had to step up big. Entering halftime, the Hornets held a 2-0 lead.
Pablos was able to get the ball to Yasmina Dressen in the 50th minute for a goal. A little under three-minutes later, Dressen scored again, this time on an assist from Malou Hagedorn. At 84:11, Madlen Bodewig scored the sixth goal from Harris-Stowe on a pass from Hagedorn. The final goal came from Anna Schulte with an assist from Pablos.
Montgomery played all 90 minutes and recorded two saves due to the swarming of the Hornets defense.
