Blazing Hornets Defeat Red Devils

ST. LOUIS – The Harris-Stowe State University women's volleyball team defeated the Red Devils of Eureka College 3-1 in the Emerson Performance Center.

Breakdown of scores: 25-18, 25-21, 25-17, 25-14

In the opening set, Harris-Stowe took an early lead but Eureka was able to rally back and take a 1-0 lead in the match.

Sets 2-4 were all in favor of the Hornets. HSSU dominated on the court as a cohesive unit. In points, Harris-Stowe outpaced 65.0 Eureka 41.0. In kills, the Hornets recorded 50, while the Red Devils concluded with 33. In aces, HSSU tallied eight and EC had six. Continuing their dominance, the Hornets halts the Red Devils abruptly with seven blocks to two. Assists were in favor of HSSU 49-32 and digs 52-39.

Three Hornets recorded double-digit kills, including Ariel Stroud (14), Jayden Sortor (12) and A'nyla Watson (11). It was a three, two, one in aces for A'Nia Ware, Nyah Parker and Nickeal Clark, respectively. Queen Patterson tallied five blocks, Watson added three, and Ariyonna Johnson finished with two.

Ware was all over the court for the Hornets as she recorded 44 assists. Clark added three and Watson finished with one. Dropping low, Clark put up 22 digs for Harris-Stowe and Ware and Wooten recorded eight and five each.
