ST. LOUIS – Day two of the Flag City Classic saw the Hornets tangling with the Cougars of Saint Xavier University. Game one was an exciting contest that ended 6-2, in favor of the Cougars. Game two concluded with a score of 17-6.
Game One:
Saint Xavier scored two runs in the first and second inning. In the third, the Hornets cut the lead in half, by scoring two runs. In the fourth and sixth, the Cougars scored one run, respectively.
A single by Jack Boland to left field scored Zach Lopez and Clayton Reed.
Evan Lawless took the loss for the Hunters on the mound.
Game Two:
In the top of the first, Harris-Stowe scored one to take an early lead. In the second, the Hornets landed an additional four runs. Saint Xavier two in the third, one in the fourth, nine in the fifth and five in the seventh. HSSU scored their final rung in the bottom of the fifth.
Davie Pound singled to third base, enabling Alek Sierra to travel across home plate. Sierra singled up the middle to score Zach Lopez and Cam Pratt. Derek Rivera singled to left field to score Devin Rader. Rivera scored on a balk. Will Menendez scored on a balk.
Armando Sierra took the loss for the Hornets from the pitcher's mound.
