CONWAY, Ark. – Despite playing an amazing contest, the Hornets season ended in a heartbreaker in Conway, Arkansas. Central Baptist was able to edge pass Harris-Stowe 60-59 to advance in the 2023 American Midwest Conference Men's Basketball Championship (Tournament).
In the opening 20-minutes, the Hornets and Mustangs appeared to be attempting to gain their footing in the contest while containing the offensive scheme of the other. HSSU entered halftime with a 29-28 lead, due to a strong defense on both ends of the court. In the second half, the Mustangs were able to outscore the Hornets, 32-30.
Alex Nunnally paced HSSU with 21-points, nine rebounds, one steal and one block. Patrick Evans tallied 17-points, four rebounds, one steal and one block. Antwan Campbell added 14-points, five steals, four rebounds, one assist and one block.
