Lady Hornets Volleyball Falls at Hannibal-LaGrange

HANNIBAL, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University women's volleyball fell in three sets (18-25,23-25,18-25) to Hannibal-LaGrange University on Tuesday night. With the loss, the Lady Hornets fall to 4-14 on the season and 0-3 in American Midwest Conference play while the Trojans improve to 5-20 and 2-1 in AMC play.

The Trojans would hold an early 8-7 lead in the first set before a 5-0 run pushed the lead to 13-7 and for a Lady Hornets timeout. After the timeout, the next six points would be split at three and leaving the Trojans ahead 16-10. From that point, the Lady Hornets would close the gap to 19-18 before the Trojans would score the final six points to win set one.

In set two, the Trojans would hold an early 11-5 lead before a 5-0 run by the Lady Hornets to close the gap to one and force a Trojans timeout. The second set would remain close with the Trojans holding a 15-14 lead a quick 3-0 run would push the Trojans lead to 18-14 lead and force a Harris-Stowe timeout. The Trojans would score seven of the final 16 points to take set two.

The Trojans would race to an 8-2 lead in set three forcing an early timeout by the Lady Hornets. After the timeout, the Lady Hornets would close the gap to 17-13 before the Trojans would close out the match with an 8-5 run.

Sophomore right side hitter Trinity Edison (Louisville, Ky./Louisville Central) would record six kills and one block assist in the match. Junior outside hitter A'nyla Watson (Little Rock, Ark./North Little Rock) would record five kills in the match. Freshman setter Jayla Payne (San Antonio, Texas/Wagner) would record 11 assists. Sophomore defensive specialist Dejah Foster (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods) would record 10 digs in the match.

The Lady Hornets return to action on Thursday, October 3rd at 6 pm at Missouri Baptist in Creve Coeur, Mo.
