Lady Hornets Soccer Pick Up 1-0 Road Win Against UHSP

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University women's soccer picked up a 1-0 raod win against the University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy on Tuesday afternoon at SLU High. With the win, the Lady Hornets improve to 6-5-2 on the season and 3-2-1 in American Midwest Conference play while the Eutectics fall to 6-7 on the season and 3-3 in AMC play.

In the seventh minute senior midfielder Jasmin Kraus (Munich, Germany/Technische FOS Munchen/SWOSU) nearly put the Lady Hornets up 1-0, but her shot hit the cross bar. The Lady Hornets would have numerous chances throughout the first half  before Kraus would intercept a pass and put her shot on net that would slip through the hands of the Eutectics keeper to put the Lady Hornets up 1-0 in the 35th minute. The score would remain 1-0 going into the half.

In the second half, freshman goalkeeper Lena-Marie Winkler (Dornbirn, Austria/BORG Schoren) would make a save on a Eutectics penalty and would make another save off the rebound in the 48th minute to deny two golden chances for the Eutectics to preserve the 1-0 lead. After a Eutectics free kick would curl towards the night and over the defender Winkler would make a kick save to again preserve the lead in the 84th minute. Winkler would make four saves en route to recording the clean sheet.

The Lady Hornets would hold a 10-6 advantage in shots, 5-4 in shots on goal and 4-3 in corner kicks.

The Lady Hornets return to action on Saturday, November 2nd at 2 pm as they host Stephens College at Hornets Field. Saturday's game will be senior day and there will be a ceremony honoring the seniors before the game.
