Men's Basketball Falls at William Woods

FULTON, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University men's basketball fell 100-51 on Saturday afternoon at William Woods. With the loss, the Hornets fall to 4-8 on the season and 1-3 in American Midwest Conference play while the Owls improve to 9-2 on the season and 3-1 in AMC play.

The Owls would start the game on a 15-1 run before senior guard Seth Chargois (Tulsa, Okla./Johnson Community College) would record a layup to cut the deficit to 15-3. Chargois would knock down a three to cut the Owls lead to 19-6. A three from Jermarco Burse (Annapolis, Mo./Truman State University) would cut the Owls lead to 24-9 with 10:40 to play in the first half. A jumper from senior guard Bennie Amos III (New Orleans, La./Delgado Community College) would cut the deficit to 34-16. The Owls would close the half on a 19-7 run to take a 53-23 lead into the half.

Junior forward Ty Lampley (Belleville, Ill./Rend Lake Community College) would cut the Owls lead to 58-25. A 14-0 run by the Owls would extend their lead to 72-25. Sophomore guard Daniel Hayes (Detroit, Mich.) would end the run with two free throws. Junior guard Brandon Vigne (New Orleans, La./Delgado Community College) would make two free throws to cut the lead to 72-29. The Owls would score 28 of the last 50 points to win 100-51.

Chargois led the way with 13 points while Hayes added 10. Lampley and sophomore guard Justin Coleman (St. Louis, Mo./Delta State University) recorded four rebounds each. Senior forward Keondre Brown (Los Angeles, Calif./Grandview University) recorded three steals.

The Hornets went 15-57 (26.3%) from the field, 4-18 (22.2%) from three and 17-22 (77.3%) from the free throw line.

The Hornets are back in action on Tuesday, December 10th as they will play an exhibition at Lindenwood University at 6 pm. The Hornets will close out the 2024 portion of their schedule next Saturday at 3 pm against Central Baptist College at Emerson Performance Center.
