HANNIBAL- Mo. Harris-Stowe State University baseball fell in the series opener to Hannibal-LaGrange University on Wednesday morning. The Trojans took the game 8-3 over the Hornets. The Hornets fall to 2-27 on the season and 1-18 in American Midwest Conference play while the Trojans improve 10-25 and 5-14 on the season.
The Trojans would take a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI single. The Hornets would push across three runs in the top of the fifth with an RBI double off the bat of sophomore infielder
Cam Pratt (Anderson, Ind.) that would score senior outfielder
Xavier Fuller (Memphis, Tenn./Middle College) from first. Junior shortstop
Austin Martin (Roxana, Ill.) would single in Pratt. After the Hornets would load the bases senior infielder
Julian Cintel (St. Louis, Mo.) would hit a sacrifice fly to score junior infielder
Jack Boland (St. Louis, Mo./St. Louis Community College) to put the Hornets up 3-1 through four and a half.
The Trojans would come back with five in the bottom of the fifth to go ahead 6-3 and would tack on two more in the sixth.
Martin went 3-3 at the plate with an RBI, while Pratt was 2-4 with an RBI, and senior catcher
Austin Toler (Highland, Ill.) and junior outfielder
Skywalker Mann (Lee Summit, Mo.) would each record two hits in the game.
The Hornets are back in action on Thursday, April 25th against the Trojans at 12 and 2:30 PM.
