ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University softball fell in two tough games against Ecclesia College at Stars Park on Saturday afternoon. The Royals took game one 6-3 and took game two 8-2. The Lady Hornets fall to 0-29 on the season.
In game one, the Royals would score one run in the first and add two more in the third. In the bottom of the fourth junior infielder
Morgan Nettles (St. Louis, Mo./Clayton) would deliver a two-run single to score senior outfielder
Isabella Romualdo (Aiea, Hawaii/Moanalua) and junior infielder
Christal Smith (Jacksonville, Fla./Terry Parker) to cut the lead to 3-2.Â
The Royals would push the lead to four with a three run sixth to go up 6-2. In the bottom of the seventh sophomore outfielder
Juanesha Washington (St. Louis, Mo./Carnahan) would get hit by pitch to deliver the third run as freshman utility player
Gracie Schmitte (San Diego, Calif./Mar Vista) would score.
The Royals would score three in the first in game two. In the bottom of the first the Lady Hornets would score on a bases loaded walk to Smith that would score freshman pitcher
Desirae Atencio (Albuquerque, NM/Ecademy Virtual). The second run of the inning would be socred on a wild pitch as sophomore infielder
Ramaya Atuatasi (San Diego, Calif./Hover) would cut the deficit to one.
The Royals would add two more in the second and three in the seventh.
The Lady Hornets are back in action on Tuesday, April 9th against the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy at Stars Park with game one beginning at 2 pm. Before game one we will honor the senior's on the team.
