CREVE COEUR, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University women's soccer team started the Jason Norsic era with a 2-1 victory on Wednesday night at Lou Fusz Athletic Complex against Freed-Hardman University. With the win the Lady Hornets improve to 1-0 while the Lions fall to 1-3 on the season.
The Lions would strike first in the 20th minute with a goal from Ellie Wood as Gabriela Albrecht assisted on the goal with a long pass to set up Wood for the goal to the far post to beat freshman goalkeeper
Lena-Marie Winkler (Dornbirn, Austria/BORG Schoren). The Lady Hornets would erase the 1-0 deficit three minutes later with a goal from senior midfielder
Annalisa Castro (Udine, Italy/Reinhardt University) after she took a pass from senior midfielder
Yasmina Dressen (Herzogenrath, Germany/Europaschule Herzogenrath Stadtische Gesamtschule).
Three minutes after Castro would tie the game senior midfielder
Laura Caceres (Bogota, Colombia/Paris Junior College) would score in the bottom right corner of the net after a deflection off of the Lions defender. Winkler would get the win after playing the first half while senior goalkeeper
Andrea Mohn (Ballwin, Mo./St. Louis Community College) would play the second half.
The Lady Hornets would hold a 17-3 advantage in shots along with an advantage of 7-1 in shots on goal. The Lady Hornets would also have a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks.
The Lady Hornets are back in action this Saturday, August 31st at 1 pm against Culver-Stockton College at Cardinal Ritter High School.
