FENTON, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University women's soccer picked up a 2-1 win against Greenville University at Fenton Soccer Park on Tuesday afternoon. With the win the Lady Hornets improve to 2-2-1 on the season while Greenville falls to 0-3-1.
This was the fifth meeting all-time between the Lady Hornets and the Panthers with the Panthers winning the four previous meetings.
The Lady Hornets would take a 1-0 lead on a Greenville own goal as the pass back to the Panthers keeper snuck past into the net in the sixth minute. In the 26th minute, senior midfielder
Laura Caceres (Bogota, Colombia/Paris Junior College) would take a pass from senior midfielder
Jasmin Kraus (Munich, Germany/Southwestern Oklahoma State) and sneak the shot past the near post for her second goal of the season and a 2-0 lead in the half.
In the 85th minute, Greenville would cut the lead in half to 2-1. Senior goalkeeper
Andrea Mohn (Ballwin, Mo./St. Louis Community College) would preserve the lead with two big saves in the last three minutes to help the Lady Hornets pick up the win. Freshman goalkeeper
Lena-Marie Winkler (Dornbirn, Austria/BORG Schoren) would play the first half and make a save. Winkler also picks up the win in goal to improve her record to 2-0-1. Mohn would make four saves in the match.
The Panthers would hold a 9-5 advantage in shots, a 6-5 advantage in shots on goal, and 4-1 in corner kicks.
The Lady Hornets return to action on Friday, September 13th at 5 pm against Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Mo.
