JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University women's soccer fell 1-0 to Lincoln University on Friday night. With the loss, the Lady Hornets fall to 2-3-1 on the season while Lincoln improves to 4-0 on the season.
The Lady Hornets had a chance to score just 92 seconds into the game as senior midfielder
Layla Weston (Cambridge, England/Hills Road Sixth Form College) put a shot on goal that was saved. Senior midfielder
Tallulah Nemet-Sargent (Wellington, New Zealand/Queen Margaret College/Mississippi Valley State) almost gave the Lady Hornets the lead in the 17th minute, but the Blue Tigers keeper made the save to keep the socre knotted at 0-0.
The Blue Tigers would break through in the 37th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Freshman goalkeeper
Lena-Marie Winkler (Dornbirn, Austria/BORG Schoren) would get the start in net and would make four saves as she played all 90 minutes in net.
The Blue Tigers would hold a 14-8 advantage in shots, 6-2 in shots on goal and 5-1 in corner kicks.
The Lady Hornets return to action on Tuesday, September 17th against Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College in Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Ind. with kickoff slated for 3:30 pm Eastern Time.
