Box Score ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University men's soccer picked up a 1-0 win over Oakland City University at Cardinal Ritter on Saturday afternoon. The Hornets improve to 1-2-2 on the season while the Mighty Oaks go to 3-1 on the season.
Junior goalkeeper
Michael Brennan (Manchester, England/Neosho County Community College) recorded a save 52 seconds into the game to keep it tied at zero. Brennan would make seven saves in the game.
In the 39th minute, junior midfielder
Leonardo Mori (Castel d'Azzano, Italy/Liceo Galileo Galilei) would deliver a through ball to junior forward
Tim Groenenberg (Koblenz, Germany/Dodge City Community College) before Groenenberg would chip a shot over the Mighty Oaks keeper from 20 yards out to put the Hornets ahead 1-0.
Brennan would make five big saves in the final 13 minutes to preserve the Hornets 1-0 lead including three saves in the final five minutes.
The Mighty Oaks would hold a 15-6 advantage in shots, 7-3 in shots on goal and 10-1 in corner kicks.
The Hornets are back in action on Tuesday, September 10th against Missouri Valley in Marshall, Mo. with kickoff slated for 7:30 pm.
