ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University women's soccer picked up a 10-0 win over Central Baptist on Saturday afternoon at Cardinal Ritter High School. With the win, the Lady Hornets improve to 5-6-4 on the season and 3-1-1 in American Midwest Conference play while the Mustangs fall to 0-9-1 on the season and 0-4 in AMC play.
Saturday was senior day and five seniors were honored before the game. The seniors were student manager Emilino Cazarin Martinez, senior midfielder
Alexandra Forcelius (Curitiba, Brazil/TecPuc/SWIC), senior forward
Keysli Elias-Gonzalez (Carthage, Mo./Carthage/Coffeyville CC), junior midfielder
Ana Bernardo (Florianópolis, SC, Brazil/Talladega/Central Wyoming CC) and junior midfieler
Katharina Salomon (Vienna, Austria/HLTW Bergheidengasse).
The 10 goals scored by the Lady Hornets are the most this season and fourth-most all-time in a game.
The Lady Hornets had two early chances by freshman forward
Sherasade Meghezi (Paris, France) as both her shots wide and high. Elias-Gonzalez missed wide in the sixth minute. The Lady Hornets would take a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute thanks to an own goal by the Mustangs. In the 14th minute, junior defender
Luka Gorogranz (Berlin, Germany/Dodge City CC) scored from 25 yards out on a free kick to make the lead 2-0. Junior forward
Julia Tofane (Montes Claros, MG, Brazil/Central Wyoming CC) scored in the 18th minute to push the lead to 3-0. Junior defender
Moenesa Mejias (Trinidad, Trinidad and Tobago/Lewis and Clark CC) scored from 30 yards out to make it 4-0 in the 22nd minute.
Mejias just missed her second goal of the game with a header that went wide in the 27th minute. Tofane would score her second of the game off of a pass from Mejias would make it 5-0 in the 28th minute. Salomon would find the net in the 38th minute to make it 6-0 Lady Hornets. The Lady Hornets would take a 6-0 lead into the half.
Salomon would score her second of the game in the 63rd minute to take a 7-0 lead. Forcelius would have her shot from distance saved by the Mustangs keeper in the 64th minute. Tofane would record her third goal of the game in the 68th minute off the assists from Salomon and freshman midfielder
Aniyah Rowe (Kansas City, Mo.) to make it 8-0 Lady Hornets. Gorogranz had her shot saved in the 73rd minute. Rowe would cross one through the box that found the foot of Salomon as she would record her third of the game in the 79th minute to make it 9-0 Lady Hornets. Meghezi would send a box that found sophomore midfielder
Keroya O'Conner (Spanish Town, Jamaica/St. Louis Community College) as she found the back of the net to make it 10-0 Lady Hornets.
The two hat tricks by Tofane and Salomon recorded the eighth and ninth hat tricks in program history.
The Lady Hornets held a 25-2 advantage in shots, 15-1 in shots on goal, and 9-0 in corner kicks. Salomon recorded her fourth, fifth and sixth goals of the season. Tofane scored her first three goals of the season, Mejias scored her fourth of the season, Gorogranz scored her third of the season and Oluoch scored her first of the season.
The Lady Hornets return to action on Wednesday, October 29th at 12 pm against the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy at Lou Fusz Athletic Complex Field #10.
