ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The American Midwest Conference released the names of the men's soccer All-Tournament team on Thursday morning. The Hornets had four players named to the All-Tournament team and they are senior midfielder
Leonardo Mori (Castel d'Azzano/Liceo Galileo Galilei), sophomore defender
Nicholas Wingren (Palma, Mallorca, Spain/IES s'Arenal), senior forward
Mario De La Fuente (Madrid, Spain/Mid America Christian University) and senior goalkeeper
Matheus Pereira da Silva (Santo Andre, SP, Brazil/Columbia College).
Pereira da Silva was named the Tournament's Most Valuable Player after playing all 270 minutes between the posts. Pereira da Silva went 3-0 while making 10 saves in the semifinal against Williams Baptist and six in the championship against Columbia to help lead the Hornets to their first championship title since 1999.
Wingren was part of a defense that allowed just three goals in the tournament.Â
Mori recorded a goal and a assist in the quarterfinal against Mission and a goal and assist in the semifinal against Williams Baptist.
De La Fuente recorded an assist and the game winning goal in the semifinal against Williams Baptist and the game winning goal in the 85th minute of the championship match against Columbia.
