CHESTERFIELD, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University women's volleyball saw their season conclude by falling to #2 seed Stephens in three sets (14-25, 19-25, 20-25) in the American Midwest Conference Quarterfinal on Friday afternoon at the The Beal Center in Chesterfield, Mo. The Lady Hornets finish the season with a 12-18 record.
The Stars would jump out to a 4-0 lead in the first set. Junior right side
Trinity Edison (Louisville, Ky./Louisville Central) would cut the deficit to 4-1 and 5-2 with a kill. A service ace by freshman defensive specialist
Mya Hendrix cut the deficit to 5-3. A kill by senior outside hitter
A'nyla Watson (Little Rock, Ark./North Little Rock) cut the deficit to 8-5. A kill by freshman outside hitter
Renise Powell cut the deficit to 10-6. The Stars would use a 7-0 run to extend their lead to 17-6. A kill by Edison cut the deficit to 18-8. A kill by sophomore middle hitter
Jada Anderson (Jefferson City, Mo./Capital City) cut the deficit to 22-10. A kill by junior outside hitter
Kyla McReynolds (O'Fallon, Ill./Althoff Catholic), an attack error by the Stars, a solo block by Anderson and a kill by Anderson cut the deficit to 23-14. The Stars would close out the set two points later to take the set 25-14.

Jehireh Williams (St. Louis, Mo./Althoff Catholic) tied set two at one with a kill. A kill by McReynolds cut the deficit to 3-2. A kill by Watson cut the Stars lead to 8-4. A kill by Watson, an attack error by the Stars, back-to-back blocks by Williams and a kill by Williams tied the set at nine and forced a timeout by the Stars. A kill by sophomore setter
Jayla Payne (San Antonio, Texas/Lawson) tied the set at 10. A block by Williams cut the deficit to 14-12. A kill by McReynolds cut the deficit to 16-14. A kill by Anderson cut the deficit to 19-16. The Stars would score six of the final nine points to win set two 25-19.
A kill by Edison gave the Lady Hornets an early 3-2 lead in set three. Kills by McReynolds and Watson cut the deficit to 6-5. A block by Williams and Watson cut the deficit to 13-7. A block by Edison and Williams cut the deficit to 16-10. A block by Edison and Williams but the deficit to 17-12. A kill by Anderson, an attack error by the Stars and a block by Anderson and Watson cut the deficit to 21-16. A kill by Williams and a block by Williams and Edison cut the deficit to 23-19. The Stars would close out the set 25-20 to take the match.
Edison led the way with six kills. Payne and junior setter
Isa Smith (Little Rock, Ark./Joe T. Robinson) recorded 10 assists each. Hendrix recorded the Lady Hornets only service ace. Junior defensive specialist
Dejah Foster (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods) recorded 10 digs. Williams recorded three solo blocks and four block assists.
The Lady Hornets will return to action in the fall of 2026.Â
