NEW ORLEANS, La. - Harris-Stowe State University women's basketball fell 70-50 on Monday night at Xavier (La.) University. With the loss, the Lady Hornets fall to 0-2 on the season while the Gold Nuggets improve to 1-0.

Alivia Montgomery (Little Rock, Ark./Little Rock Central) cut the deficit to 6-4. A three by Dilosa cut the deficit to 9-7. A three by sophomore guard
Jayla Jackson (Indianapolis, Ind./Ben Davis) gave the Lady Hornets a 10-9 lead with just under four minutes to play in the first quarter. Three free throws by Dilosa made it 13-11. A free throw by senior forward
J'Lessa Jordan (St. Louis, Mo./Hazelwood Central) extended the lead to 14-11. A 7-0 run by the Gold Nuggets gave them an 18-14 lead. A jumper from Jordan cut the deficit to 18-16. The Gold Nuggets would take a 19-16 lead after the first quarter.
The Gold Nuggets would score the first six points of the quarter to extend their lead to 25-16. Two free throws by Dilosa cut the deficit to 25-18. The Gold Nuggets closed the second quarter with a 7-0 run to take a 32-18 lead into halftime.

Dilosa recorded a game-high 26 points. Jones recorded nine rebounds including five offensive rebounds. Montgomery recorded four assists. Jordan led the way with two steals and one block.
The Lady Hornets went 13-62 (21.0%) from the field, 2-19 (10.5%) from three and 22-29 (75.9%) from the free throw line.
The Lady Hornets return to action on Wednesday, November 5th at 11 am at Lindenwood in an exhibition.
