Softball Falls on Road to Stephens College

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University softball fell 21-0 in game one and 7-2 in game two at Stephens College on Saturday afternoon. With the losses, the Lady Hornets fall to 1-19 on the season and 0-6 in American Midwest Conference play while the Stars improve to 8-10 on the season and 2-0 in AMC play.

In game one, the Stars scored two runs in the first, five in the second, one in the third and 13 in the fourth. Senior pitcher Naliya Anderson (St. Louis, Mo./Hazelwood Central), freshman catcher Brianna Huff (Columbus, Ohio/Private Tree of Life Christian College Preparatory) and freshman infielder Nichelle Davis (St. Louis, Mo./Jennings) all recorded a hit.

In game two, Huff singled to start the game. Huff would advance to second on a sacrifice bunt. Freshman catcher Jaden Crenshaw (Killeen, Texas/Robert M. Shoemaker) singled to score Huff to make it 1-0 Lady Hornets.

The Stars would score five in the first, one in the second and third to take a 7-1 lead.

Freshman infielder Michaela Thomas (Fort Pierce, Fla./Fort Pierce Westwood Academy) would reach second on an error and move to third on a passed ball. Sophomore infielder Gracie Schmitte (San Diego, Calif./Mar Vista) singled to score Thomas.

Huff led the way with two hits while Crenshaw, Thomas and Schmitte all recorded one hit. Crenshaw and Schmitte recorded on run batted in each.

The Lady Hornets return to action on Tuesday, March 25th at 4 pm against Fontbonne University in an exhibition game at Stars Park.
