ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The American Midwest Conference announced on Monday, June 23rd the Teams of Character award. Harris-Stowe State University men's track and field team was the recipient on the men's side in the AMC.

This was the first time the Hornets won the award, for either the men's or women's program.

Coach Joshua Reed said, "A little hard work goes a long way, but a lot of hard work can last a lifetime." about the team winning the award.

The criteria for the award is to be an AMC Championship sport and must exemplify the Five Core Values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership.

The Harris-Stowe State University Men's Track & Field Team exemplifies integrity by openly communicating with coaches and staff when challenges arise. They show respect by following team and eligibility rules, and demonstrate responsibility by logging the most study hall hours among student-athletes.

Their sportsmanship is reflected in record-breaking performances, All-Conference honors, and an HBCU Indoor Runner-Up finish. Through servant leadership, team members gave back by volunteering at a community track meet, assisting with event operations and athlete support.
