Hornets Soccer Ends in 1-1 Draw at Brescia

OWENSBORO, Ky. - Harris-Stowe State University men's soccer ended in a 1-1 draw at Brescia (Ky.) on Wednesday evening. With the draw, the Hornets are 2-2-2 on the season as the Bearcats move to 1-4-1 on the season.

Senior forward Kyle Nicholls (Norwich, England/Mineral Area College) and junior forward Adefolarin Adigun (Colchester, England/Moulsham High School) would each have a chance to give the Hornets a lead in the first four minutes of the game. Senior goalkeeper Matheus Pereira da Silva (Santo Andre, SP, Brazil/Columbia College) kept the game tied at zero with a save in the 10th minute. Nicholls had another chance to get the Hornets on the board in the 16th minute as he would be turned away by the Bearcats keeper.

Pereira da Silva kept the game tied in the 17th minute with another save. Pereira da Silva would make two more saves in the 40th and 41st minute to keep the game 0-0. Junior midfielder Djordje Stankovic (Belgrade, Serbia/Bethel University) would be denied a goal in the 42nd minute by the Bearcats keeper. 

The Bearcats would take a 1-0 lead 46 seconds into the second half. Sophomore forward Samuel Guerrero (Santiago, Chile/South Kent School) would tie the game in the 79th minute off the pass from Adigun. 

The Bearcats had a 12-11 advantage in shots, 6-3 in shots on goal and 6-3 in corner kicks.

The Hornets return to action on Friday, September 12th at 7:30 pm against Lincoln University at Lou Fusz Athletic Complex Field 10.
