Men's Soccer Falls 4-1 Against Lincoln

Box Score CREVE COEUR, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University men's soccer falls 4-1 against Lincoln University of Missouri on Friday night at Lou Fusz Athletic Complex. With the loss, the Hornets fall to 2-3-2 on the season while the Blue Tigers improve to 2-0. 

The Blue Tigers would take a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute after both teams had scoring chances in the first 14 minutes of the game. Senior forward Mario De La Fuente (Madrid, Spain/Mid America Christian University) had a chance to tie the game in the 27th minute as his shot went wide and again in the 29th minute as he shot high. A perfectly placed pass from senior forward Kyle Nicholls (Norwich, England/Mineral Area College) would find the foot of senior midfielder Matteo Rissato Prado (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Carl Sandburg College) eight yards in front of the net and Rissato Prado would bury his first goal of the season and tie the game at one. Just 37 seconds later the Blue Tigers would retake the lead and would take a 2-1 lead into the half.

Sophomore forward Jovan Momic (Belgrade, Serbia/Kansas Wesleyan University) had a chance to tie the game in the 48th minute as his shot would be turned away by the keeper. In the 50th minute, the Blue Tigers would extend their lead to 3-1. The Blue Tigers would push their lead to 4-1 in the 54th minute. 

Junior forward Adefolarin Adigun (Colchester, England/Moulsham High School) would have his shot turned away by the keeper in the 55th minute. In the 57th minute sophomore forward Samuel Guerrero (Santiago, Chile/South Kent School) would be turned away by the Blue Tigers keeper. 

Senior goalkeeper Kazuyuki Matsumoto (Sanda, Japan/St. Charles Community College) would make a save in the 58th minute to keep the score 4-1 in favor of the Blue Tigers. 

The Blue Tigers held a 16-9 advantage in shots, 5-4 in shots on goal. The Hornets held a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks.

The Hornets return to action on Wednesday, September 17th at 6 pm against Webster University at Fenton City Soccer Park.
