Lady Hornets Soccer Falls 2-1 at Westminster

FULTON, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University women's soccer fell 2-1 on Tuesday night at Westminster College. With the loss, the Lady Hornets fall to 2-4-3 on the season while the Blue Jays improve to 3-4 on the season.

Junior goalkeeper Taylor Kolinski (St. Louis, Mo./St. Louis Community College) would keep the game scoreless in the 15th minute with a save. In the 27th minute, Kolinski would once again make a save to keep the game scoreless. The Blue Jays would take a 1-0 lead in the 41st minute and would take the 1-0 lead into halftime.

The Blue Jays would extend their lead to 2-0 31 seconds into the second half. Kolinski would keep the deficit at 2-0 with two saves in a 13 second span in the 49th minute. Junior defender Katrice Blakely (Mesquite, Texas/North Forney) would have a chance to cut the lead in half as her shots in the 61st and 66th minutes would miss high.

In the 74th minute, junior midfielder Ana Bernardo (Florianópolis, SC, Brazil/Talladega/Central Wyoming CC) would miss wide right with her shot. Kolinski would keep the game at 2-0 with saves in the 79th and 80th minutes. Junior midfielder Katharina Salomon (Vienna, Austria/HLTW Bergheidengasse) would be turned away by the Blue Jays keeper in the 83rd minute. Salomon would find the back of the net in the 86th minute as the Lady Hornets were able to keep the ball from going across the end line and the Blue Jays keeper was unable to corral the ball. Junior defender Moenesa Mejias (Trinidad, Trinidad and Tobago/Lewis and Clark CC) would hit the crossbar in the 87th minute. Sophomore defender Emma Auer (Kindberg, Austria/HIB Liebenau) would be turned away by the keeper of the Blue Jays on her shot from distance. Bernado would miss wide left in the 89th minute. 

Blakely and Salomon would record two shots each. Salomon would record two shots on goal and Auer would record one shot on goal. Salomon's goal was her third of the season. Salomon now has the team lead with eight points (3 goals, 2 assists). Kolinski would make nine saves in net.

The Blue Jays held a 15-8 advantage in shots, 11-3 in shots on goal and 8-6 in corner kicks.

The Lady Hornets return to action on Saturday, October 4th at 1 pm as they open American Midwest Conference play at Hannibal-LaGrange.
