Women's Soccer Falls 2-0 at Greenville

GREENVILLE, Ill. - Harris-Stowe State University women's soccer fell 2-0 on Friday afternoon at Greenville University. With the loss, the Lady Hornets fall to 1-2-2 on the season while the Panthers improve to 1-2 on the season.

Senior midfielder Alexandra Forcelius (Curitiba, Brazil/TecPuc/SWIC) would make the start in goal for the Lady Hornets. Forcelius would make two saves in 21 seconds in the ninth minute of the game to keep the score tied at zero. Junior forward Julia Tofane (Montes Claros, MG, Brazil/Central Wyoming CC) had a chance to give the Lady Hornets a 1-0 in the 10th minute, but would be turned away. The score would remain tied at the half.

Junior midfielder Katharina Salomon (Vienna, Austria/HLTW Bergheidengasse) had a chance to give the Lady Hornets a 1-0 lead 45 seconds into the second half, but the Panthers keeper made the save. Just three minutes into the second half the Panthers would strike and take a 1-0 lead. Forcelius would keep the score 1-0 in favor of the Panthers with a save in the 61st minute.

Junior defender Luka Gorogranz (Berlin, Germany/Dodge City CC) would have a chance to tie the game in the 62nd minute, but would be turned away by the Panthers keeper. Forcelius would make a save in the 63rd minute and in the 65th minute to keep the Lady Hornets down 1-0. The Panther would take a 2-0 lead in the 75th minute. 

Junior midfielder Ana Bernardo (Florianópolis, SC, Brazil/Talladega/Central Wyoming CC) would be turned away of a goal in the 77th minute. Sophomore defender Emma Auer (Kindberg, Austria/HIB Liebenau) would be denied her second goal of the season in the 82nd minute. Forcelius would make another save in the 85th minute.

The Panthers would hold a 13-6 advantage in shots, 8-5 in shots on goal and 9-2 in corner kicks. Forcelius would record six saves in her first start in goal.

The Lady Hornets are back in action on Sunday, September 7th at 1 pm against Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. Sunday's game will be played at Cardinal Ritter High School.
