HANNIBAL, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University men's basketball fell 86-76 at Hannibal-LaGrange on Thursday night. With the loss, the Hornets fall to 4-15 on the season and 1-7 in American Midwest Conference play while the Trojans improve to 13-6 on the season and 7-1 in AMC play.

Sophomore guard Umar Lawson (Sumter, S.C./Voorhees University) gave the Hornets an early 2-0 lead. The Trojans would use a 12-0 run over a 3:29 stretch to take a 12-2 lead. Freshman forward Nashawn Davis (St. Louis, Mo./Columbia College) cut the deficit to 12-4 with a layup. A layup from Davis cut the Trojans lead to 15-6. A layup from Lawson cut the deficit to 17-8 with 12:15 to play in the first half. An 8-0 run by the Trojans extended their lead to 25-8. Two free throws from Davis cut the deficit to 25-10. A three from junior center Dimitrije Stojanovic (Nis, Serbia/Bethel University) and back-to-back layups from Lawson cut the Trojans lead to 27-17. A layup from Davis cut the Trojans lead to 29-19. A dunk by senior guard Kevin Jones (Sikeston, Mo./Dakota State University) cut the deficit to 31-21. A layup from sophomore guard Antonio Trotter (Nashville, Tenn./Williams Baptist University) and a layup from Davis cut the Trojans lead to 35-25. The Trojans held a 36-25 lead at halftime.

A jumper from Davis cut the deficit to 36-27 early in the second half. A layup from senior forward Benjamin Rumanyika (Buckeye, Ariz./Voorhees University) cut the deficit to 41-29. Layups from Trotter, Stojanovic and two from sophomore guard Jason Freeman (Atlanta, Ga./William Woods University) cut the Trojans lead to 48-37. Layups from Jones and Stojanovic cut the Trojans lead to 49-41 with 12:56 left in the game. A three from freshman guard Christian Dake (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway North) cut the deficit to 52-44. Two free throws from Stojanovic and two free throws and a three from Jones cut the deficit to 55-51 with 9:31 remaining. A layup from senior forward Jalen Watson (East St. Louis, Ill./St. Louis Community College) cut the Trojans lead to 62-55. A three from Lawson cut the deficit to 69-60 with 5:36 to play. An old-fashioned three point play by junior guard Adolphus Cast (Detroit, Mich./Schoolcraft College) cut the Trojans lead to 72-68 with 3:02 left. A layup from Watson cut the deficit to 82-72. The Hornets and Trojans would split the final eight points as the Trojans picked up the 86-76 win.

 Lawson led the way with a team-high 17 points while Davis and Stojanovic added 12 apiece and Jones added 11. Stojanovic added eight rebounds. Cast recorded three assists. Lawson recorded two blocks. Trotter and Davis had two steals each.

The Hornets went 30-63 (47.6%) from the field, 4-8 (50.0%) from three and 12-20 (60.0%) from the free throw line.Â
