ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University men's soccer picked up a 1-0 win against Williams Baptist on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Hornets are 6-3-1 on the season and 1-0 in American Midwest Conference play while the Eagles fall to 4-5 on the season and 0-1 in AMC play.
The Hornets would control most of the first half recording multiple shot attempts and corner kicks. Sophomore midfielder Benjamin Martinez (Mendoza, Argentina/Garden City CC) would have his initial shot hit the post and come back out for a tap-in goal to make it 1-0 in the 39th minute.
In the second half the Hornets defense would hold off the Eagles to pick up the clean sheet.
The Hornets held a 7-4 advantage in shots, 1-0 in shots on goal, 5-4 in corner kicks.
The Hornets return to action on Tuesday, October 6th at 3:30 pm against Maharishi International at Hornets Field. Tuesday will also be senior day with festivities taking place before the game.
