SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University men's basketball fell 70-57 to #2 seed Hannibal-LaGrange on Thursday night in the American Midwest Conference tournament hosted by Mission University. With the loss, the Hornets finish the season 5-21 while the Trojans improve to 19-7.

The Trojans started the game with an 8-0 run. Senior forward Jalen Watson (East St. Louis, Ill./St. Louis Community College) would get the Hornets on the board with a layup. A jumper from junior center Dimitrije Stojanovic (Nis, Serbia/Bethel University), an old-fashioned three point play from freshman forward Nashawn Davis (St. Louis, Mo./Columbia College), a layup from sophomore guard Umar Lawson (Sumter, S.C./Voorhees University) and a layup from Davis gave the Hornets an 11-10 lead. A jumper from Lawson put the Hornets back in front 13-12. A layup from Lawson cut the deficit to 16-15. A layup from Davis cut the Trojans lead to 19-17. A layup and a free throw from Davis cut the deficit to 25-20. A three from Stojanovic cut the deficit to 27-23. A jumper from senior guard Kevin Jones (Sikeston, Mo./Dakota State University) cut the deficit to 29-25. Two free throws from Jones cut the deficit to 31-27. The Trojans would hold a 34-27 lead at halftime.

A jumper from Lawson and a three from sophomore guard Antonio Trotter (Nashville, Tenn./Williams Baptist University) cut the deficit to 44-37 with 14:52 to play. A layup from Watson cut the deficit to 47-40. Two free throws from junior guard Adolphus Cast (Detroit, Mich./Schoolcraft College) cut the deficit to 47-42. An 11-0 Trojans run extended their lead to 58-42. A three from Cast cut the deficit to 58-45. A jumper from Stojanovic cut the deficit to 60-47. A jumper from Watson and a three from Davis cut the deficit to 67-55. A layup from sophomore guard Jason Freeman (Atlanta, Ga./William Woods University) cut the deficit to 70-57.

 Davis led the way with 16 points while Lawson added 11. Davis grabbed a team-high eight rebounds. Jones would record three assists. Lawson recorded two blocks. Davis recorded three steals.

The Hornets went 22-56 (39.3%) from the field, 4-14 (28.6%) from three and 9-14 (64.3%) from the free throw line.Â
