LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Harris-Stowe State University men's track and field tem competed at the HBCU Nationals this past Friday and Saturday hosted by Kentucky State at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center. The Hornets finished fourth with 48 points.
Freshman thrower
Jabbar Granberry won the weight throw with a personal best and school record throw of 16.25 meters (53-3.75). Granberry finished third in the shot put with a throw of 14.22 meters (46-8).Â
Freshman sprinter Emmanuel Bonsu finished fourth in the preliminary round of the 60-meter dash in 6.99 and finished fourth in the finals in 6.99. Bonsu finished eighth in the preliminary round of the 200-meter dash with a personal best time of 22.18 before recording a personal best time of 22.15 in the finals to finish sixth.Â
Sophomore thrower
Jacobi Green recorded a personal best throw of 14.43 meters (47-4.25) in the weight throw to finish second. Green also recorded a seventh place finish in the shot put with a throw of 13.67 meters (44-10.25).
Junior thrower
Sherodd Tate recorded a personal best in the weight throw with a throw of 14.22 meters (46-8) to finish fourth. Tate finished fifth in the shot put with a throw of 13.79 meters (45-3).
Freshman mid-distance
John Griffin ran a personal best and school record in the 800 meters in 2:06.77.
Freshman thrower
Aaron Beasley recorded a throw of 12.49 meters (40-11.75) in the shot put.
Junior sprinter
Caleb Carter ran a personal best time of 54.31 in the 400.
Freshman sprinter
Jalen Mcghee ran a personal best in the 400 with a time of 57.59.
Junior
Aidan Smith ran a personal best 27.34 in the 200 and a personal best 58.10 in the 400.
The team of Bonsu, Carter, Griffin and freshman sprinter
Keon Johnson ran a school record 1:35.79 to finish fourth.
The Hornets will begin their outdoor season on March 20-21 at the Miner Invitational hosted by Missouri S&T in Rolla, Mo.
