ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University softball fell 8-1 in game one and won 11-10 in game two on Sunday afternoon against Stephens at Stars Park. With the split, the Lady Hornets are now 2-12 on the season and 1-5 in American Midwest Conference play while the Stars are 3-15 on the season and 2-2 in AMC play.

Game 1:
The Stars would score three runs in the top of the first. Junior second baseman Rakiara Bogan (Cape Girardeau, Mo./Mineral Area College) singled with one out in the bottom of the third. Bogan would steal second before scoring on a single from junior utility player A'Kiayah Scales (St. Louis, Mo./Mineral Area College) to cut the deficit to 3-1.Â

The Stars would score three in the fourth, one in the fifth and sixth to hold an 8-1 lead over the Lady Hornets.

Scales would lead the way with two hits while Bogan, sophomore catcher Brianna Huff (Columbus, Ohio/Private Tree of Life Christian College Preparatory High School) and senior shortstop Juanesha Washington (St. Louis, Mo./Carnahan High School) all recorded one hit. Scales had the lone run batted in .

Game 2:
The Stars would take a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Junior outfielder Karmen Daniels (St. Louis, Mo./Fontbonne University) doubled with one out in the bottom of the first. Scales reached on a fielder's choice as Daniels advanced to third. Daniels would score on a wild pitch to tie the game at one. Senior outfielder Noemi Tudon (Houston, Texas/Waldorf University) was hit by a pitch. Huff singled to left and advanced to second on a fielding error, scoring Scales to give the Lady Hornets a 2-1 lead after one inning.

The Stars would score one in the second and four in the third to take a 6-2 lead. Scales singled to start the bottom of the third. Scales would advance on a wild pitch. Tudon singled to center and advanced to third on an error by the centerfielder to score Scales. Huff was hit by a pitch. Junior pitcher Symone Abraham (Decatur, Ill./Livingstone College) hit into a fielder's choice to score Tudon to cut the deficit to 6-4. A single from freshman infielder Crystal McFerren (St. Louis, Mo./Fort Zumwalt North High School) gave the Lady Hornets first and second. With the bases loaded and two outs Bogan would walk to score McFerren to cut the deficit to 6-5.

The Stars scored two in the top of the fourth. Tudon singled with one out in the bottom of the fourth. Abraham walked with two outs. McFerren doubled to right center to score Tudon and Abraham to cut the deficit to 8-7 after four innings of play.

The Stars scored two runs in the sixth to extend their lead to 10-7.Â

Huff reached on a throwing error to advance to Tudon to second with one out in the bottom of the sixth. Abraham reached on an infield single to load the bases. McFerren reached on a fielder's choice that scored Tudon and would score Huff on a fielding error by the catcher to cut the deficit to 10-9.

Bogan would be hit by a pitch to start the bottom of the seventh. Daniels grounded out to second as Bogan would advance to third and score on a throwing error by the first baseman to tie the game at 10. Scales and Tudon singled and Huff would walk to load the bases. McFerren walked to score Scales to give the Lady Hornets an 11-10 win.

Scales and Tudon both recorded three hits while McFerren had two and Daniels, Huff and Abraham had one. McFerren recorded four runs batted in while Bogan, Tudon, Huff and Abraham had one.
