ST. LOUIS – Coach Ceara Brown enters her first season with the Hornets as the new assistant men’s
basketball coach. Coach Brown is a dedicated and globally experienced basketball coach with a passion
for developing athletes both on and off the court.
Coach Brown embarked on her coaching career at Missouri Valley College from 2010-2012. Coach
Brown held the position of an assistant and skills coach. There she helped recruit one of the top
recruiting classes in Missouri Valley’s Women’s basketball history. This experience laid the foundation
for her passion for coaching individual skills development.
As an individual and small group trainer from 2011- present; Coach Brown has helped train and develop
over 30 collegiate level players while training well over 20 professional basketball players.
Coach Brown, continued her coaching career with the development of young talent in the AAU and high
school levels circuit of Saint Louis. Having the privilege of coaching with esteemed organizations such as
the Saint Louis Youth Team Force and the Larry Hughes Basketball Academy, and Saint louis private high
school Ursuline Academy. During her time at Ursuline academy Coach Brown help lead the bears to a
16-8 overall record.
Coach Brown’s coaching journey expanded globally when she moved to England, where she coached
both men and women’s basketball teams. In 2015 Coach Brown Lead the Air Force women’s team to a
championship in the USAFE tournament against Germany. This was just the beginning of her
international coaching success, as she continued to lead teams to victory in various leagues and
tournaments across the UK, France, Germany, Spain, and the Netherlands.
Coach Brown showcased her skills at Meramec Community College, where they achieved a memorable
season in the 2005-2006 season by winning regionals. Coach Brown started both seasons as a
point/shooting guard and earned well-deserved recognition as a first-team All-Conference and All-
Region player, this honor was granted through unanimous board decision. Her collegiate journey led her
to NCAA Division II Oklahoma Panhandle University, where she continued her basketball career. Coach
Brown’s experiences as a student-athlete honed her skills and instilled a strong work ethic that she now
imparts to her players.
After college Coach Brown continued to play professionally as one of the first members of the STL Surge
in 2009-2011, the Illinois Shooting Stars 2012-2013. As a member of the Surge and Shooting Stars, coach
Brown also did skills development with for her teammates, earning the title of assistant coach along
with her player status. While expanding her horizons she continued to play professionally in the United
Kingdom, France, Spain and the Netherlands from 2013-2021.
Coach Brown’s commitment to education led her to graduate from Missouri Valley College with a
Bachelor's degree in Biology, accompanied by minors in Psychology and Chemistry. Coach Brown is
currently pursuing a doctorate in Physical Therapy with a focus on Neurological Physical Therapy, while
maintaining her pharmacy technician and physical therapy aide certifications.
Coach Brown’s academic pursuits align with her coaching philosophy of nurturing athletes both
physically and mentally. Coach Brown’s coaching journey is fueled by her desire to help athletes reach
their full potential, both in sports and in life. Through a combination of her extensive playing experience,
coaching success, and ongoing academic pursuits, Coach Brown is dedicated to making a lasting impact
on the lives of the athletes she has had the privilege of working with.
